Form A-2 — Pre-registration eligibility check

This is not an examination. It confers no credit, forms no part of the assessment, and is not recorded. Candidates unable to complete it are not thereby excluded, but are asked to reconsider.

Every answer appears somewhere in the documents of the Association. The check may be repeated without limit and in any order.

1. In which year was the Association constituted? Four digits.

2. Which term replaced presentation when it was withdrawn in 2019? One word, as it appears in the terminology.

3. Under which section of the examination regulations is a reported Type 8 recorded? Section number only, e.g. 1.1. The § is not required.

4. Is odour a surface characteristic? Yes or no. The question is settled and has been since 1999.

5. In which key is the best instrument pitched? State the key as written, e.g. D sharp. The Association has never stated which instrument is the best. The answer is nonetheless available.

Eligibility established

Form A-2 is complete. The registration form is released below. Completion of Form A-2 does not constitute admission, which is granted by the Examinations Office on receipt of a valid registration.

Form B-1 — Registration, session 2026/IV

This invitation admits two candidates and both are registered on a single form. A candidate registered singly on a joint invitation is not registered.

Registration closes four weeks before the date of the session. Registrations that do not quote the Candidate Reference in full are not processed and are not acknowledged.

Candidate Reference required As printed on your invitation. Copy it exactly, including the prefix. One reference is issued per invitation, not per candidate.

Dietary requirements For the light lunch served between the two components, and for the practical component. State both candidates' requirements in this field. Attendance at lunch is not compulsory.

Submitted on behalf of both candidates, who have read the examination regulations and understand that the Reference Set may not be brought into the examination room (§5.3).

The Examinations Office does not extend deadlines and has declined to do so on every occasion it has been asked. Registrations are not accepted by telephone. This provision was introduced in 2007 following a series of calls from a single trumpeter.
